Teacher Development at St David's
Our Commitment
At St David's RC High School we are committed to providing and participating in Continuous Profesional Development (CPD) opportunities.
Teachers must participate in at least 35 hours of mandatory CPD to keep up with their profesional registration, however, most teachers participate in much more than the 35 hours of CPD.
Our school provides many different CPD opportunities for our teachers in line with the School Improvement plans and HGIOS framework.
Lesson Reflections using a Coaching Method
Miss Fleming (Maths) led the L&T process of the 7 Key Features of a St David's Lesson.
These 7 key features are part of a holistic and ongoing reflection process that teachers participate in, to encourage their own reflection on the learning and teaching taking place in the classroom. Supported by a peer who observes and provides the teacher useful feedback to aid in the reflection and improvement of their lessons.
When teachers are observed by their peer in this reflective and coaching manner, it allows the teacher the space, time and opportunity to have the owenership of their own professional learning. This process is about a teachers own quality improvement, and not quality assurance.
