Religious and Moral Education
All courses are in keeping with the RC CfE outcomes and experiences.
Each year sees the delivery of the Called to Love course, the Sex and Relationship Education course, created for RC schools.
S1/S2/S3
S1 and S2 operate according to the outcomes and experiences in the Curriculum for Excellence for RC schools. The first two years focus on Christianity and Other World Religions, Faith in Action and the Equality and Inclusion programme - the latter is also found throughout the years.
Our S1 have the opportunity to undertake a one-day educational visit to Carfin, Scotland.
S3 sees the introduction of morality into the curriculum, applying critical thinking skills to various moral issues we face as a society.
S4 sees the introduction of philosophy. And by the end of S4 the students will have had the chance to obtain Nat3, Nat4 and Nat5 RMPS SQA qualifications, as well as the RBV Award, Level 4.
As well as continuing the delivery of the core RC curriculum, in S5 & S6, RMPS HIGHER is offered in the Senior Phase Curriculum.
S6 students also have the choice of working towards the Caritas Award, the SQA Beliefs and Values Award and the Saltire Award.
Our department is also responsible for the Scottish Studies Higher Award.
The Catholic School: A Faith Community
The chaplaincy forms an important part of our school community. Our students can spend their lunch time relaxing in the chaplaincy with other pupils, or by themselves. Many school groups meet in the chaplaincy, really incorporating its role at the core of the school.
Our liturgical celebrations are held in the chapel and the Assembly Hall, where masses and services are celebrated with the support of Fr Basil and Fr Andrew.
Retreats for the various year groups are also part of our mission to develop our faith community.
